Working with us

Point.51 regularly works with freelance journalists and photographers, and we are always keen to receive pitches and discuss ideas that might feature in a future issue of the magazine. We welcome pitches and story ideas from journalists and photographers alike, and especially from people with experience in issues-based journalism on a local, national or international level.

The basics:

  • We pay for all commissioned long-form stories and significant photo essays. Contributor fees start at €300. We also cover certain reporting expenses by prior agreement.

  • We expect everyone we work with to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and to follow our ethics charter.

How to pitch:

  • Please send a three-paragraph outline of the story you are interested in working on, a short paragraph about yourself as a journalist/photographer, and a rough estimate of how much time you think you would need. If you can, please also include links to a portfolio and/or previous work.

  • We aim to respond to all pitches received and to offer constructive feedback wherever possible, but please be patient. If your pitch is unsuccessful, please don’t hesitate to pitch us again in the future!
